PTFE (polytetrafluoro ethylene) Coating

PTFE Coatings are specialized Dry Film Lubricant Coatings. PTFE coatings provide engineering solutions where non-stick (release), low friction, chemical resistance and wear resistance are important concerns.

PTFE Coating
PTFE coatings are often referred to as Teflon® coatings, which is incorrect. Teflon® is a registered trademark of E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company. Essentially, Teflon® is one type of Fluoropolymer dry film coating. PTFE coatings are designed to suit many different applications.

Fluoropolymer coating is a generic term for not only PTFE coating, but can also refer to coatings of PFA (perfluoroalkoxy), FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene), ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) and ECTFE (Ethylene-chlorotrifluoroethylene) coatings.

Emralon® GP-1904 is one of our premium PTFE coating. A product supplied to us by Acheson Colloids Company, it is a solvent borne Fluoropolymer lubricant coating. It contains a mixture of PTFE and graphite that, when cured, produces a low friction coating with excellent resistance to corrosion and solvents.

Because of the wide temperature range for effective curing, the coating can be applied to a variety of substrates such as wood, rubber, many types of plastic and engineering metals.

The coating produces a satiny black finish that is Aesthetically Appealing and remains flexible over a range of temperatures. The coating has good release properties with a low coefficient of friction that will meet lubrication and assembly requirements.

Typical applications are:
  • Fasteners
  • Sliding Rails
  • Lock Mechanisms
  • Seat Bealt Components
  • Latches
  • Mechanisms
